Our History
Kathy Bunker, owner and artistic director for Bunker Dance Center, opened the doors to her studio in the fall of 1994. Currently Bunker Dance Center is entering its 16th year in business and has seen incredible growth over the last 15 years including operating out of two locations during the years 2002-2005. Bunker Dance Center boasts a faculty that is, literally, known nationwide. Not only has Kathy won numerous accolades, awards and honors herself in the dance industry, but she has watched several of her faculty judge, choreograph, and dance on So You Think You Can Dance, America’s Best Dance Crew, Celine Dion's Show A New Day, Stomp, and the Cirque shows Love, Believe, and Le Reve to name a few!
The Performing Arts Companies have been winning national titles for years at West Coast Dance Explosion, Jump, LA Dance Magic, LADanceforce, Star Systems, and Spotlight as well as numerous overall winnings at Regional Dance competitions including The Pulse. Bunker Dance Center wins choreography awards each year and has won the coveted "Choreography Pick" at Pulse Regionals for the last two years. Besides choreography awards Bunker Dance Center consistently wins Technical Merit, Showmanship, Entertainment, Costume and Best of Show Awards. Bunker Dance Center's newly created Recreational Dance Teams are also making their mark in the competition world.
Besides being a force to be reckoned with nationally in the competition world, Kathy Bunker and Bunker Dance Center created and hosted the first annual Dancers Making a Difference benefit concert in May 2009 which brought together several dance studios' performing teams and artists from Las Vegas shows to raise money and awareness for the Rising Star Outreach Organization which is a charity that benefits the leprosy colonies of India.
Bunker Dance Center also funds a Foster Child Scholarship Program bringing dance to foster children in the Las Vegas area.
